Every cough your child has
deserves to be written down

CoughCare is for parents of children aged 0–10 —
coughs are caught at night, listened back to in the morning, and logged during the day.
Before a visit, it becomes one page the doctor can read in ten seconds.

Woken up at night Can't describe it No way to quantify

Why you need CoughCare

Every night your child coughs is a night you lie awake doing the math

3 a.m. and your child is coughing again

How many times tonight? Better or worse than yesterday?
CoughCare listens, so you wake up with the answer

Start monitoring before bed, put the phone 1–2 m away, and listen back in the morning. You get the night as numbers, not a vague memory.

"How long? How often?" — and you're guessing

"About a few days, maybe…" — and the doctor has to guess too
Hand over the visit summary

One page, ordered the way a doctor asks: counts, night vs day, cough types, timing, symptoms, medication and background. Save it to your photos or send it before you go.

You mean to log daytime coughs, but forget

Was that a new cough or the same one?
Tap once, or hold to record the sound

The + button sits at the bottom. Tap to log a cough, hold for a live waveform, release to save. Single, multiple or cluster, in about a second.

Someone else watches your child at night

Grandma keeps count on paper; the next day it never reaches the app
Pick a date and add them in batches

Tools → Backfill past cough records: choose a date, enter counts and types, and submit several at once. Drafts are saved as you go.

One cough, a few, or a fit? Dry or wet?

One or two coughs and a fit that leaves a child red-faced are not the same thing
Three count tiers, four sound types

Log a single cough (1), multiple coughs (2–5) or a cluster (5+). In the morning, tag dry, wet, spasmodic or barking, or choose "can't tell". No guessing, no blank fields.

"Any phlegm? Wheezing? Allergies at home?"

"Probably? Maybe?" — so the doctor has to guess
12 symptoms + a health profile + exposure history

Check appetite, stools, sleep, phlegm, wheezing, breathing, congestion and more. Fill in allergies, family history and past history once, and note who they have been around for each episode. All of it carries over into the summary.

Worried about privacy?

Is it recording all night? Where does the audio go?
No all-night recording. Only cough clips.

A clip is saved only when the app thinks it hears a cough. Conversations are not recorded or uploaded. Clips are encrypted and used only for logging, review and sync. Delete the record and the clip goes with it.

Log it, read it, use it

Three groups, seventeen features — record the whole episode, make sense of it, then bring it to the doctor

A

Log the whole episode

Night, day, and the hours someone else was watching — nothing missing

Night

Smart cough monitoring

Put the phone 1–2 m away and dim the screen. A model on the phone filters first, and a clip is saved only when a cough is likely. No all-night recording.

1 minute

Morning review

Listen, then decide: tag the type and sound, or delete it. A sound tag is required, and "can't tell" is a valid answer. One tap to confirm the ones that were real coughs.

Daytime

Long-press to record a cough

Tap + to log a cough, or hold for a live waveform and release to save — the sound stays with the record. Single, multiple or cluster, with a slide-to-delete gesture if you mis-tap.

Catch up

Backfill past coughs

Pick a date from the calendar, enter several at once, and keep a draft if you are interrupted. Anything forgotten, logged by someone else, or deleted by mistake can come back.

B

Make sense of it

Which day, how far apart, better or worse — seeing it makes it easier to judge

One line per day

Cough timeline

Coughs, medication and symptoms on one timeline, split by your day boundary. Long-press to delete. Open a day and play the coughs from that night.

Which day

Care cycle

Note who they have been around when the cough starts, watch it progress, and get a recap at the end: how many coughs, and which type was most common.

Three things at breakfast

Morning brief

How many coughs yesterday, how many of them at night, and the longest stretch of sleep, with an hour-by-hour heat bar. Decide about school or a visit before the day starts.

Better or worse

Trends

A 24-hour bubble chart, a double ring for counts and sound types, and how far apart the coughs are. Busy stretches show up as flare-ups.

C

Bring it to the doctor

A page for the visit, a direction when you're unsure, and something to do at home

The main one

Visit summary

One long image, ordered like the consultation: basics, health-profile summary, totals, cough types, timing, symptoms, medication, background. Save it or share it.

30 seconds

Cough assessment

Air conditioning or a cold? Postnasal drip or an ordinary cough? Answer a few questions and get a sense of the direction, with a side-by-side comparison. It never names a condition.

Beyond medicine

Care tips & soothing recipes

Suggestions based on the symptoms you checked. Allergens from the health profile are filtered out automatically, and recipes are grouped by age.

Nothing lost

Multi-device sync

Everything syncs in the background and retries when the connection drops, deletions included. Change phones, use two devices, and no record goes missing.

One page the doctor reads in ten seconds

Ordered the way a doctor asks — whatever they ask about, it's on the page

The doctor doesn't have to ask twice

  • Basics — name, sex, age, date range
  • Health profile — allergies, family and past history
  • Totals — cough count, night vs day split
  • Cough types — how many of each
  • Timing — a 24-hour view, busy stretches stand out
  • Symptoms — a time bar plus legend, no more "maybe?"
  • Medication — when, and what
  • Background — which day, who they were around, how symptoms changed
  • Typical cough audio — played from the app, not in the image
  • Share — save to your photos or send it before the visit

The usual clinic conversation: "How long? How many times? Worse at night?" With this page you just hand over the phone.

In the news — In Hubei, a seven-year-old girl heard her little brother's cough and thought it sounded like a puppy barking. She raised the alarm. He had croup, and doctors said waiting longer could have been fatal. Original report (in Chinese) →
— The sound of a cough is itself a diagnostic clue. CoughCare records it so a doctor can hear it.

One episode, start to finish

Logging isn't a one-off task. From day one to fully recovered, everything sits on one line

1
Day 1 · it starts

Start an episode

One tap to begin, plus a quick note on what they have been around: classmates coughing, crowded places, pets. It carries over into the summary.

2
Every night

Start monitoring

Put the phone 1–2 m away and dim the screen. Only likely coughs are recorded, never voices.

3
Every morning

Listen back, then read the brief

A minute of listening and tagging, then the brief: yesterday's count, how many at night, longest stretch of sleep.

4
Through the day

Log symptoms and medication

Tap + to log, or hold to record the sound. Check appetite, stools, sleep, phlegm or wheezing as needed.

5
Every day or two

See whether it's improving

Trends and the timeline show totals, gaps between coughs, and whether flare-ups are shrinking — earlier than a vague "it feels about the same".

6
The day of the visit

Generate the visit summary

One page: counts, distribution, types, symptoms, medication, background — plus the audio, played from the app.

7
After recovery

End it, keep the recap

You get a recap card: how many coughs, which type was most common, which day it started easing. Next time you have a reference.

Download · Monitor · Review · Share

Two steps happen at night, two during the day — no paper, no notebook

1

Start monitoring at bedtime

Put the phone 1–2 m away and tap start. The screen dims, and only likely coughs are recorded.

2

Review in the morning

Listen to each clip: tag the type, or delete it. One minute, then the morning brief.

3

Log during the day

Tap for a cough, hold to record it. Symptoms and medication go here too, and you can backfill past coughs later if you forget.

4

Generate the summary before a visit

One tap for a one-page image. Save it or share it — at the clinic, just hand over the phone.

What we do — and what we don't

Not an AI diagnosis tool and no medical advice — a record you can read and take to a doctor

Privacy first

No all-night recording. Only cough clips. A clip is saved only when the app thinks it hears a cough. Conversations are neither recorded nor uploaded. Clips are encrypted, used only for logging, review and syncing; delete the record and the clip goes too.

A tool, not a diagnosis

CoughCare records and visualizes. It does not name conditions or suggest treatment. The assessment assistant gives you a direction, not a verdict. The judgment stays with your doctor.

Plenty to log, little you have to

Almost everything is optional: symptoms are checkboxes you can skip, and the health profile is filled in once and reused. You can record with none of it. No social feed, no mandatory forms.

Important

CoughCare is not a medical device and does not replace a doctor's assessment. Call a doctor right away if your child is breathing fast or working hard, if the skin pulls in between the ribs, if the lips look blue, if the cough is barking with noisy breathing, or if a baby under 3 months has a fever.

Know the sound of a cough

The four sound types you can tag in the morning review — and what to do when you can't tell

Dry

Crisp and short, no phlegm

Clean, separate coughs, usually from irritation in the upper airway: cold air, dust, a dry throat. Dry does not mean mild — if it lasts more than two weeks, get it checked.

Wet

Rattling, like gurgling

You can feel the rattle with a hand on the back. A recording makes it obvious to a doctor in a way words rarely do.

Spasmodic

A fit you can't stop

Many coughs in a row, getting tighter, sometimes ending red-faced or bent over. Log these as a cluster, not as single coughs.

Barking

A hollow "seal bark"

A sign of swelling around the voice box, often worse at night. With noisy or labored breathing, or blue lips, get help right away.

Can't tell? Choose "can't tell". That is a valid tag. It does not count as a specific type, and it does not affect your record. Full guide to cough types (in Chinese) →

Why a written record beats memory

The idea behind CoughCare is simple: recall is unreliable, notes are not

Parental recall is off by 40–60%

When parents' reports are compared with objective monitoring, the two often differ widely, especially for night coughs. Without a record, the conversation at the clinic starts from a guess.

Quantified data speeds up assessment

Frequency, timing and duration give a clinician a faster starting point than a description from memory, and save everyone the repeat questions.

Cough is one of the most common complaints

Children's airways are still developing, and cough is one of the most common reasons for a pediatric visit. Recording the pattern helps separate one bout of illness from the next.

Yes. Sign in with a phone number or an email address plus a verification code. No password to set, no personal details to fill in.

No. Detection runs on the phone; recording and upload wake up only when a cough is likely. The rest of the night it idles at low power — far less than half an hour of video.

The on-device model filters first and the thresholds are updated server-side, but you have the final say: you listen back to every clip in the morning. If you mark many clips "not a cough", the app asks for feedback to improve detection.

One long image: basics → health-profile summary → totals → cough types → timing → symptoms → medication → background. Audio is not in the image; play it from the app and hand the phone to the doctor.

Parents of children aged 0–10, mostly 3 to 7 — the preschool years, when coughs are frequent and children cannot describe how they feel. It also works for older children with a recurring cough worth tracking.

Yes. Monitoring covers the night, and the + button covers the day. Hold it to record the sound too, and tag a single cough, multiple coughs or a cluster.

You decide during the morning review: dry, wet, spasmodic, barking — or "can't tell". CoughCare will not name a condition, but it does count the mix, which is what the doctor looks at.

Sign in with the same account: incremental sync, upload retries, offline queue and synced deletions. The day count comes from your account, so a new device won't restart at "day 1". Pull to refresh before switching.
